Q. As I’ve gotten older (I am 51) my hair just doesn’t seem to act like it did when I was younger. I have thick hair with a light wave to it and a smattering of gray that I use semi-permanent color on sometimes at home. Is there a version of the bob that would lend itself well to my hair type? Lynn Moorehead; Trafford, PA
A. A perfect example of a sophisticated and versatile style is Academy Award winner Helen Mirren. She has worn numerous versions of the layered bob with a soft sweeping bang. When speaking to your stylist about your new do, ask for a bob with long, textured layers. Short layers tend to create too much volume for thick or dense hair. If you wanna ensure the best cut on your next salon visit, bring in a picture, a magazine cut-out, or better yet, a Google Image search.

I can not seem to get a good hair cut since I have been in Florida, hair dressers get up set when I tell them I want my hair cut dry and that I can not do razor or thinning shears. where can I find a salon that would address my issues
Whats the easiest way to learn how to luxurious bobs for women?
Yvonne: If you Google search your “city, Florida, hairstylist” you’ll find numerous links to salons that tout specialty services (i.e. dry hair cutting specialist). Next, interview your stylist at the salon. Just about every salon performs free consultations. Once you voice your concerns, your stylist should first listen, then reiterate your needs back to you. Finding the right stylist for you is almost as hard as finding a good doctor in your new town.

I am 69 and don’t look my age, is it possible to get a BOB hairstyle that is not an old lady look? I am going to the Regis salon in Neshaminy soon, it will be my first time to a Regis salon. I am very nervous, and want an age appropiate hair style.
I really don’t see many nice looking styles for mature women.
I’m looking forward to your answer.
Thankyou, Mary
I am 62, have nice silver/gray hair that is fine textured and not as thick as it use to be. I like the more dressy casual look. Any help/suggestions?
Thanks
