Q. How do I know if I can wear bangs? Mary Helser; Sarona, WI

A. Virtually everyone can wear bangs, but the shape of your face will dictate what style of fringe (flirty side wisps, a strong statement bang, etc.) is right for you. If you have a long face or a prominent forehead (think Kim Kardashian), a strong, blunt fringe, like the one the reality star has been rocking on and off for the past year, will flatter your features. For those of us with round or cherub-like faces, it’s best to swing your fringe to one side. The asymmetry that you achieve from a sweeping bang will add a bit of drama to your current style. One tip: the shorter the bang, the higher the maintenance. So start by trying out a long, cheek-sweeping style until your ready to commit to frequent (like, every three weeks!) bang trims.
