Q. I want to grow my hair long. How often do I have to trim it so it grows out healthy? And how long will it take? Kyle Sharp; Tucson, AZ
A. When growing your hair out, it’s important to get regular cuts to maintain healthy ends, so when you do achieve your desired length, your hair is in top condition and looks beautiful. I suggest letting your stylist in on your growth plans and—if possible—the ultimate length you desire. That way, when you go in for your regular trims (about every six to eight weeks), your stylist can just “dust” the ends (an insider term for trimming just enough to maintain hair health). As far as how long will it take to score the length you crave, know that hair typically grows 1/2 inch a month. You can use that figure as a guide to estimate your hair growth time line.

My hair is really fine, and in the past i have dyed it red a couple time & black next. But I had to get my hair bleached to get some of the color out, I was a natural sandy blonde before i colored it. And now i believe it is strawberry blonde, i am trying to find a style that will fit me best. I have bangs and it’s a little fringed or layered as you might say? But I want to change it up a bit, get the color close to my natural color and cute it but i don’t know what style?? and i want to let it grow a bit but my split ends are really bad. : ( I need help please
