Q: How safe are hair extensions and can someone with really short hair get them?—Pamela; Olathe, KS

A: Extensions are a great—and safe, when done correctly—way to get instant gratification in the length department. I highly recommend SO.CAP Hair Extensions. They’re made from 100% human hair, come in 81 shades and three textures (straight, wavy and curly) and are fused to your existing strands with a Keratin-protein bond that creates a more natural, secure and, because Keratin is a component of hair, safe adhesion than glued-in, sewn-in or braided-in versions. What’s more, since they’re bonded to the hair, these extensions can last up to six months (with good care and maintenance, of course). SO.CAP requires about an inch of natural hair to start with. I recommend placing them on the sides and back of your head or you risk winding up with a Britney Spears “rice seed” look. (Remember that widely distributed shot of her from a few years back with her hair in a bun and the bondings of her extensions clearly visible for the world to see?) In any case, make an appointment with your stylist. He or she can help you pick out the right length and style of extensions to fit your style goals and hair needs.
