Q. What haircut makes a face look thinner? Marlene Ramirez; Russellville, AL
A. The first thing to consider when choosing your most flattering haircut is the length. If you have a strong or round jaw, you’ll want to pick a length that falls below your chin for an elongated effect. Instead of layers that frame your face, choose a look that either falls away from your face (which actually lengthens your neck, creating a slimming effect) or long layers that frame your neck from the chin down. Next, choose a shape that draws attention upwards—like short layering through the crown—for lift. (FYI: Jennifer Aniston is a great ‘slim hair cut’ role model.) Your hair color can also play a part in trimming down fullness through the cheeks. A darker shade (just one shade darker than your all over color choice), placed around your front hairline, will create fabulous shadowing—and a slimmer shape!

This seems to be good advice, but i have been having troubles conveying my ideas verbally to the stylist. I don’t know whether it is my verbage or their listening skills but I have never gotten the haircut I went in with. I bring photos of myself and celebs of things I want and DON’T want for sure, but I just don’t seems to get it right. I’ve thought about asking for a stylist specializing in curly hair, but my hair isn’t ALWAYS curly
Any advice for DesperateForAGreatCut?
