For this sleek, shiny style, Regis Artistic Director Kat Carey gave Amy a quick trim, then deep conditioned with a Regis Salon Ultimate Repair Treatment (a salon service) to restore silkiness. She spritzed on Joico Silk Result Thermal Smoother before drying hair using a nylon-and-boar bristle round brush to grip Amy’s hair and pull it straight. For extra shine, Carey ran a flat iron (try the Regis DESIGNLINE Press It Flat Iron) over one-inch sections. To keep hair from going limp, she ironed only lightly, starting about an inch from the roots.
1. Sun Kiss
For the most subtle effect, Regis Artistic Director Kat Carey put seven foils in Amy’s hair. “It’s a change without a huge commitment-just a pop of color,” Carey says.
2. Sun Shimmer
Carey took Amy a step brighter with partial highlights, adding more blond at the crown and the sides of the face. “The idea is to create a summery, sparkly appearance,” she explains.
3. Sun Drench
For maximum drama, Carey did all-over highlights, pumping up the blond not just at the top and front of the hair, but underneath and in back as well. The result: Sexy, beachy, beautiful!

I wish I wasn’t so afraid to color my hair…maybe this process will get me to try it out. I love that I can start with a mild change. P.S The model looks amazing with her new hair color.
