Wella Professionals Celebrity Stylist, Andy LeCompte whipped up this ballerina bun for Wella Professionals Celebrity Ambassador Rebecca Romijn to wear to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards in New York City back on November 14th. We think it would make a fab holiday hairstyle (perhaps decorated with a pretty headband or barrette) and so does LeCompte. “The best thing about this look is that it can balance out the most intricately adorned holiday dresses, while adding a modern twist to your classic cocktail dress,” he says. Here, the how-tos:

1. Begin by applying Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier to damp hair before blow-drying straight with volume.

2. Gather hair into a high ponytail, using a brush to smooth out strands on top, and then secure with an elastic. (Andy suggests tilting your head back to make sure you gather any strands that might be lingering at the nape of your neck.)

3. Brush a dime size amount of Wella Professionals Pearl Styler through the entire ponytail to make it super sleek, then gently tease the hair at the base of the elastic (this keeps the style from appearing to prim) before twisting and wrapping it into a bun.

4. Tuck the ends of the ponytail under and secure with bobby pins, making sure they’re hidden in the hair. (Andy suggests shaking your head gently from side to side to test the style for stability.)
