The Alberta Ferretti’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection featured maxi frocks with a definitive “hippie” vibe. Redken creative consultant Guido Palau whipped up a Bohemian-rocker style, complete with matte, natural texture, to complement the clothes. “Alberta Ferretti is a show that women always look forward to because the fashion is very feminine—the kind of clothes any woman would want to wear. To complement the easiness on the runway, I created natural, bohemian hair, that was made unique to each model by simply enhancing her own natural texture,” said Palau. He began by working a generous amount of Redken velvet gelatine 07 cushioning blow dry gel through damp hair with his hands, scrunching it in sections and concentrating on the roots to bring out the natural texture of the hair. Next, he blew hair dry using his fingers to scrunch sections towards the scalp and lightly twist other pieces away from the face. Before hitting the runway, he roughed up the texture of the hair slightly with his hands to create a more tousled look while maintaining the matte finish he desired.
