With the new year approaching, it’s time to reveal Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2012. Every year for more than a decade, the New Jersey-based corporation best known for its Pantone Matching System, a proprietary color space that standardizes color for reproduction across many industries, picks a color of the year. For 2011, it was Honeysuckle, a color the company described as “perfect for warding off the blues.” This year, the uplifting color trend continues with Tangerine Tango, “a spirited reddish orange, that continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.” You may not be ready to embrace tangerine highlights just yet, but you can dip your toe in the trend with one of these citrus-y shades from OPI: On the Same Paige (the orange-red at left) and Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It (the red-orange at right).
