The Nina Ricci Spring/Summer 2011 collection featured a slew of chiffon confections, tailored jackets and coats, and a number of gorgeous water colored printed pieces. For the hair, Redken Creative Consultant Guido Palau dreamed up a low, loose knot reminiscent of both Edwardian era and 1970s styles that provided an ideal counterpoint to the ladylike garments.
“The clothes at Nina Ricci are always very feminine so we wanted to create a soft look, something that is very wearable for a woman and that she can create on her own,” he said.
Palau began by applying Redken thickening lotion 06 body builder throughout hair and let it dry naturally to bring out its natural texture. Next, he parted the hair down the center and pulled it into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck, with the hair covering the ears. He twisted the ponytailed hair to the left to create a loose knot and finished by pulling a few strands out and away from the face to offset the somberness of style. The finished look was at once stylish and effortless.
