Celebrities such as Nina Dobrev and Mila Kunis, have been working super-sleek, shiny pin-straight styles recently. Although this simple, elegant look may not be achievable right now, in our humid summer climate, it’ll be perfect once the air dries out for fall. So in preparation, we asked stylist Gina Branda at the Regis Salon in Hoboken, New Jersey for the right straightening products to use. Her tips:

If your hair is already straight and fine, you’ll have the easiest time. Work a quarter-sized amount of Regis DesignLine Get It Pumped Volume Foam ($11.50, Regis Salons) through damp hair. (Don’t use too much product, or it’ll make your locks look greasy.) Blow dry straight with a round brush. Then massage in a little Regis DesignLine Powder Boost ($12.95, Regis Salons) at the roots “to give you amazing lift all day long,” Branda says.

For curly, coarse hair, this look is going to take a little bit more effort but isn’t impossible. Branda suggests combing a quarter-sized amount of Regis DesignLine Press It Straightening Cream ($10.95, Regis Salons) from roots to tips. Blow dry your hair smooth using a round brush, then use a flat iron for that pin-straight look. To help keep curls at bay, use your fingers to rake through a dime-sized drop of Moroccanoil Frizz Control ($17, Regis Salons).
