Michelle Williams wasn’t the only short-haired star to make a style statement on Sunday night’s red carpet. Actress Evan Rachel Wood, who was nominated for her work in the TV miniseries
Mildred Pierce, attended the ceremony in a Gucci gown and a gorgeously sculpted hairstyle. Her mane man, celebrity stylist Marcus Francis, created the look by layering products and using a range of heat stylers. He began by spritzing volumizing spray from roots to ends and blow drying, using his hands to direct the hair and build texture. He then applied a cocktail of volumizing spray and thickening mousse throughout the hair for added hold and blow dried again. Francis wrapped medium-size sections of hair from the top of the head around a ¾ inch curling iron, creating a little bend at the ends to set in the volume. He gently brushed back the top and molded the style into shape, connecting the hair at the sides and back and keeping the volume, especially in the front. To modernize the look he raked styling putty through the sides with his fingers and pinched horizontal sections to enhance the texture. He finished with a superfine hairspray for hold.
