Four memorable updos from Sunday night:
Shailene Woodley’s Elegant Chignon
The Descendants star wore her hair in an elegant chignon her stylist, Campbell McAuley for Wella Professionals, described as “naturally enchanting”. To create the look, McAuley prepped wet hair with Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier and then dried it with a diffuser for natural texture. When the hair was nearly dry, he lightly misted on Wella Professionals Thermal Image Heat Protection Spray and curled pieces with a 1 ¾ inch curling iron to enhance the natural waves. He then split the hair into two sections: front and back and pulled the back section into a loose ponytail. He sprayed Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight Shine Spray on the front section for extra shine, then side parted the hair before pulling all into a twisted bun. A spritz of Wella Professionals Stay Essential Hairspray finished the look.
Kate Winslet’s Classic Look
Frederic Fekkai stylist Renato Campora whipped up this classic updo for the best actress winner (for her work in the TV miniseries Mildred Pierce) by creating a side part and applying mousse to wet hair. He then blow dried the hair straight and, using a 1 inch curling iron, created small tight waves through the hair. He secured Kate’s hair back with bobby pins, twisting the length into a low bun secured with an elastic, and finished with hairspray for lasting hold.
Dianna Agron’s Textured Style
The Glee star’s elegant style was specially designed to compliment the texture of her gown. Frederic Fekkai stylist Adir Abergel created the look by first applying spray gel to Agron’s roots and rough drying her hair. Next he braided the hair, applying a small amount of glossing cream to lend the plaits texture and shine. Once the braids had set, Abergel took them apart, raked his hands through the hair and created a deep sweeping part angled towards the back of the head. He gathered the hair in the back, twisting small sections then pinning them together and securing the style with hairspray.
Kate Beckinsale’s Modern Twist
The actress’s modern French twist focused on texture and body. To achieve the look, Frederic Fekkai stylist Renato Campora applied a cocktail of spray gel and glossing cream to the hair before rough drying it. Next, he used a 1 ½ inch curling iron to create loose curls. He allowed the curls to set for 10 minutes so they fell into more of a wave, then separated the hair into three sections: two low pig-tails and a ponytail in the middle. All three pieces were secured with clear hair ties before Campora wove them into a high bun secured with light hold hairspray.
