Cooler weather and fall fashion have us on the prowl for some cute, cozy hats for the season. Celebrities, like Diane Kruger and Diane Keaton, sport so many great hats that we can’t help but want our own. The difficulty, of course, ensues when you walk inside, take your hat off and your hair is completely flattened against your head.

If it’s a fashion hat that you’re likely to keep it on all day, the good news is you really don’t have to worry about your hair too much. Try a low side ponytail or side braid or a low messy bun. If you want to leave it down, relaxed beachy waves always look great.

So, what to do with your hair if you plan on taking your hat off? A braid might be your best bet because it won’t be too messy when you take off the hat. But if it does get messy, simply undo it, run your fingers through your hair and you’ve got some nice waves. Try some dry shampoo to refresh your hair and give it a bit of volume. We like the Kenra Platinum Color Care Dry Shampoo ($22, Regis Salons).
