The upcoming cooler weather has us excited for all sorts of fall fashion. From boots and loafers to fun patterned scarves, fall is just right for layering and accessorizing to define your look. As far as your beauty routine is concerned, a red lipstick is a must-have—it’s the perfect pop of color when your wardrobe steers towards darker colors.
The key to rocking a red lip is to let your lipstick be the focal point of your makeup. If you have too much eye makeup, blush or bronzer, your makeup will overpower your face. Instead, use a concealer or bronzer that’s close to your natural skin tone and go easy on the eyeliner or eye shadow. That way, your look will be more natural-looking overall and your red lips will really pop.
Hate reapplying your lipstick repeatedly throughout the day? Try this tip from our October cover girl Taylor Swift, for making your color last all day (or night) long. Swift told Allure magazine, “[makeup artists] put on the red lipstick, then blot it with a tissue, then they put powder over the issue and sort of press it onto your lips. Then re-apply. It turns into a stain that lasts much longer.”
