Blondorexia noun
: a hair coloring disorder attributed to women who never seem to be blonde enough. It’s characterized by ever lighter hair color and the inability to be satisfied by the degree of blondness achieved. (Note: These women are delusional. Honestly, step away from the mirror!)
Believe it or not, you can have too much of a good thing and blonde definitely qualifies.
You see, color is graded on a scale of Levels from 1 to 10 or 11 (with 1 being darkest and 10/11 being the lightest). Skin tone plays a huge role in determining one’s most flattering degree of blondness. In general, the fairer the complexion, the lighter the hair can be, which means, if your skin is medium to dark, your skin tone can’t really support the lightest blonde shades. People who go blonder than their complexions allow tend to appear unwell or washed out. And they have to fall back on a ton of makeup to offset that sickly look.
So, what to do if your blonde ambition can’t be curbed? Speak to your stylist about your best options. He or she can guide you towards the best flaxen hue for you.
