Q. What type of style would compliment a chubbier face? Katey Coston; Battle Ground, WA
A. Silhouettes in hairstyles work similarly to design elements in fashion. Wear something with horizontal lines and you tend to look wider. Wear something with vertical lines and your body appears longer and leaner. The same thing goes for hair and face shape. Stay away from cuts that add fullness to the roundest part of your face (ie: the cheeks). Instead, stick with shapes that are fuller on top with longer length. They’re more slimming. I’m a big fan of soft, wispy bangs (they help emphasize eyes and cheekbones) paired with layers that fall to the cheekbone (to adds fullness on top) and a longer length (think anywhere between the shoulder and the collarbone). Together this look creates an overall lean effect.
