Q. What colors are best for dark black hair? Aisha Choudhry; Madison, MS
A. Black hair is gorgeous when accented with color. To determine which hue is best for you, start with your own beautiful skin tone. African American women with medium to dark complexions can pull off almost any tone from gold to red to cool beige. A word of advice, though, when picking a color stay within two to three levels from your natural hair (think dark reds, medium golden browns and cool browns). Hispanic, Indian and Native American women with yellow undertones in their skin will benefit from a neutralizing hair color, like natural and cool browns. These cool colors balance the warm undertones in the skin and keep complexions looking fresh, not washed out. If it’s red you truly crave, stick with a violet-red. As it’s also a member of the “cool” color family, it will be most flattering.

What colors would work best on someone with very dark black natural hair and very pale white skin?
Thanks
Hi Marlena,
What colours would work for dark hair (almost black) and pale skin? Would you suggest an overall colour or just high/low lights?
Thanks,
Nicole
