The eye is drawn to the heaviest or longest pieces of hair. So the focus of Morgan’s old cut was- unfortunately-the back of her head. Nelson cut away the bulk, then layered Morgan’s hair throughout so that it pitched forward, framing her face. Best of all, the long, graduated pieces offer a multitude of styling possibilities
Color
Morgan’s light-brown hair had been dyed darker brown and then red. Carey chose a richer auburn hue. She concentrated deeper tones in the back and underneath and added lighter, strawberry-hued pieces on top, to enhance the lines of Morgan’s cut and mimic how the sun might affect the color naturally.

Product & Tools
Carey styled Morgan’s hair three ways. She created a sophisticated, swept-back effect by finger-combing a pea-size amount of Regis DESIGNLINE Sculpting Mud through the hair. For a straight look, she worked a mix of Regis DESIGNLINE Silk Drops and Regis DESIGNLINE Sculpting Glaze through damp hair, then blew it straight using a fl at paddle brush. For an edgy look, Carey misted one-inch sections of hair with Redken Hot Sets, a thermal setting spray, before curling them with a curling iron.
