hero_215x250_2Actress Allison Pill accompanied designer Chris Benz to the 28th Annual CFDA Awards (aka the Academy Awards of fashion design), held Monday night at Lincoln Center in New York City. Redken session stylist John Ruidant whipped up this upswept twist to compliment Pill’s flowing frock (courtesy of the designer, natch). To create the look, Ruidant worked Redken iron silk 07 ultra straightening spray through Pill’s damp hair and blow dried adding texture with a Mason Pearson brush. Then, using a one-inch curling iron, he set her hair in alternating directions, spraying Redken hot sets 22 thermal setting mist on each section first for heat protection. After the set cooled, he backcombed all of her hair to the roots, created a messy side part and finger combed the hair back to the nape as if to make a ponytail, leaving loose bits around the hairline for a soft shape. Next, he twisted the ponytail up into a French Twist, pinning the loose hair and the ends into itself in the back. He finished with a spritz of Redken quick dry 18 instant finishing spray all over for a hold that lasted all night long.
