The unofficial hairstyle of the 2010 MTV Movie Awards was long and loose—worn either wavy or stick straight. Among the celebs who got the memo and sported versions of the look were Vanessa Hudgens, Scarlett Johansson, Anna Kendrick, Julianne Hough, Stephanie Pratt, Jessica Biel…and the list goes on). So, I’m naming Kristin Stewart “Best Tressed” for bucking the trend and appearing at the event in an edgy high ponytail, dreamed up by her stylist, Frédéric Fekkai’s Adir Abergel. To create the look, Abergel began by working a volumizing mousse from roots to the ends to boost body and drying the hair with the help of his finger,s instead of a brush, to create a more textured effect. Next, he curled the top sections of the hair in random directions with a one-inch curling iron before misting each piece with beach spray for a looser ringlet with added movement. He then fastened the hair into a high ponytail, concealed the elastic band with a lock of hair and finished with a blast of aerosol spray for weightless, long-lasting hold.
The end result was a slightly wrecked take on a classic look that was totally in keeping with the actress’s style—and personality.
