I was browsing J. Crew’s sister site Madewell.com when I spotted this casual but sexy wavy style on one of the models. It’s exactly how I want to wear my hair all summer long, so I asked one of our stylist/bloggers extraordinaire how to get the look. Take it away, Marlena:

This look works fantastically for gals with naturally straight or wavy hair. For these sultry beach waves start with damp hair, apply a drop of frizz control serum (like Redken glass 01 smoothing serum) and allow hair to dry naturally or blow dry roughly without a brush. If your hair is bone straight, use a small barrel curling iron and spiral curl hair in large two to three inch sections, without actually clamping down the iron. Next, flip over your tresses and spray in my new favorite styler, Redken wool shake 08. The dry, texturizing spray gives your mane a rough finish without the stiff, crunchy feel of a spray gel.
