hero_300x250Boy by Band of Outsiders designer Scott Sternberg listed the writer Joan Didion as one of the inspirations for his Fall 2010. Sebastian Professional lead stylist Thomas Dunkin dreamed up a low-slung ponytail to complement the lineup of paisley print dresses, mélange wool turtlenecks and terry sweatpants. To create the subtly 70s style, Dunkin began by applying Sebastian Professional Texturizer, a body-building liquigel, through damp hair before blowing it dry using his hands instead of a brush to create the unkempt, natural texture the style demanded. When the hair was nearly dry, he misted it with Volupt Spray, a body-boosting spray-gel, for added texture, then finished drying and misted on more of the same. He parted the hair down the middle and pulled it into a ponytail at eye level before taming flyaways with a dab of Matte Putty, a soft dry texturizer. The style may have been based on looks from days gone by, but the finished do was decidedly modern.
