If your summer plans include a walk down the aisle and you’re still in search of a do to go with your dress, consider these styles, created by Redken Session Stylist Giovani Giuntoli for the Amsale, Christos and Kenneth Pool Fall/Winter 2010 Bridal Shows.

AMSALE

“The hair at Amsale took a soft but elegant approach to the classic ponytail,” said Giuntoli of the loosely gathered look he created for the show.
Step 1. Prep dry hair with touch control 05 volumizing texture whip, then spray starch 15 versatile ironing spray.
Step 2. Create a strong center part and curl the hair from mid-shaft to ends with a curling iron, rolling the curls away from the face to create movement. Clip the curls to cool, then use a wide toothed comb to loosen the waves and boost texture.
Step 3. Gather hair into a ponytail and finish by wrapping a small section of hair around the elastic, securing the ends underneath the finished style.

CHRISTOS

“The undone chignon at Christos put a playful spin on the classic bun,” remarked Giuntoli of the neat knot he whipped up for the show.
Step 1. Pull hair into a ponytail at the back of the head, then prep the “tail” with wool shake 08 gel-slush texturizer.
Step 2. Wrap wide sections of hair around a large barrel iron to add a slight ‘bend’.
Step 3. Twist the hair into a chignon, pinning as you swirl the ponytail around itself into a bun. Leave a 1-2 inch section out of the updo to “put a modern touch on the otherwise simple style.”
Step 4. Finish with headplay 12 pliable working spray to prevent flyaways without leaving hair overly shiny or sticky.

KENNETH POOL

To compliment the detailed and intricate beading and fabrics of the Pool designs, Giuntoli created a classic French twist updated with slight texture and extra height at the crown.
Step 1. Prep dry hair with touch control 05 volumizing texture whip and blow-dry through for added volume.
Step 2. Gather hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck, then twist the hair in upon itself as you move up to the crown of the head securing it with hair pins.
Step 3. Curl the ends of the tail with a one-inch curling iron so they will easily tuck into the twist and secure with pins.
Step 4. Finish with vinyl glam 02 mega shine spray for a glossy look.
