The gorgeous, talented and ever stylish Michelle Williams has once again traded in her long hair for a chic cropped do, debuting the look at the 63rd Annual International Cannes Film Festival yesterday. Worn slightly graduated in the back, short around the face and layered through the top, it’s a super versatile style for any gal who wishes to show off beautiful bone structure. Want to play copycat with Michelle’s new cut? You can—especially since it’s great for all hair textures! If you have fine hair, ask your stylist to cut shorter layers through the crown to maintain volume. To style, use a root lifter mousse (like Redken Rootful 06 Root Lifting Spray) and blow dry with a round brush, lifting the hair up while drying. For thicker hair textures, your stylist might add “texturizing” all over to reduce volume (it helps prevent that “helmet” look). Next, use a smoothing serum (like Redken Glass 01 Smoothing Serum) prior to blow drying and style with a large round or paddle brush to reduce volume. Finish with a soft styling wax (like Redken Water Wax 03 Shine Defining Pomade) on dry hair add definition and piece-iness to your strands. Lastly, to maintain your fabulous new shape, don’t forget to book your next appointment at the four week mark—shorter looks call for more frequent trims.
